Kmart - Worst Layaway Experience Ever
On November 13th, 2012, I put three items on layaway.These items included a camera, camera bag, and an additional lens for the camera.
I made the scheduled payments. On December 28th, 2012, I made the final layaway payment. Excited that I would be getting my stuff soon, boy I was sure wrong. This quickly turned into a nightmare.
I received my final receipt for the payment made on my layaway order, and not two minutes later I received an email saying my layaway order was cancelled. I was furious. I called up the number that it provided on the email. Spoke with someone who said I see that your items will be delivered by January 9th.
I told her then why did I receive an email stating that it had been cancelled. She said, Oh yes I do show it has been cancelled and that it cannot be reinstated. I said that I want to speak with a manager. He said that he would have to forward it over to the "case manager" to take a look at why the layaway order was cancelled.
Then I should receive my refund, after asking him several times if I would get the whole balance back or if it was going to be partial. He said that I would get refunded what I paid less charges. I said I do not think so I did not cancel this layaway order and I should not be charged any of your fees for it getting cancelled. So over the course of the next couple of weeks.
I have spoke with numerous people and each had a different story to tell. One said that I would be refunded in 3-5 days (wrong). One said I would be refunded in 5-7 days (wrong). One said 7-10 days (wrong).
I am highly pissed off because of the fact that Kmart would continue to take payments on a layaway order when they do not even have the item in stock. Oh and guess what they sure did not mind taking the payment that I made on 12/28/12 from my bank account even after the order had been cancelled. Then I hear this story which is supposed to make me happy about how they are behind on getting refunds out, blah blah blah. I don't give a ***, I want my money.
Here I am left without a product or money, and it is very frustrating. I have filed numerous complaints because why would they sell an item that you clearly put on layaway, and by the time that you got it paid off then they just cancel it. What happened to a decent phone call at the time that the item was sold to let me know that they would have to cancel my order. Nope never received that.
In fact, the order never got cancelled until I actually paid it off. I do not want the product now, I can get it somewhere else for a much better deal. However, I do want my money back, and I am sick of hearing stories about how they are behind. If they are so far behind, maybe Kmart/Sears needs to hire more people that way refunds are refunded within the time frame that they are supposed to be.
Another thing that I am super pissed off about, spoke with someone this morning and she said that it is a possibility that I might not get the refund for another week. Are you F***** kidding me? That is ridiculous. Wal-Mart is really good about refunding money back right away yet Kmart's refunds can take a month.
Absolutely ridiculous. Oh and by the way, this has happened to a lot of people who paid off their layaway items, and their layaways got cancelled too. This issue should have never taken this long. She said that it was sent over to the correct department two days ago which would have been January 7th.
Why if my order has been cancelled since December 28th, 2012 did it just get sent over to the correct department on January 7th. Absolutely ridiculous.
Don't shop Kmart.You are much better off taking your business elsewhere.
